How do I update Vector's software?

You may have some questions about how to apply updates to Vector. Here, we'll cover how Vector updates, and some basic troubleshooting in case an update doesn't arrive automatically.

You can check what version of software Vector is on by opening the Vector Robot app, then tapping the Settings icon on the top right, and clicking "Updates". The current version is 2.0.1.

Requirements:

  • Internet connection
  • Vector Membership (Monthly, Annual, or Lifetime)

Automatic Updates

Vector updates all by himself! When on Wi-Fi, Vector automatically checks for updates every hour and applies updates once per day between 1am and 5am while he is resting.

Manual Updates

If Vector doesn't update automatically (or if you want to grab a software update faster) then you can perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Vector Robot app on your smart device and connect to Vector.
  2. Click the gear icon at the top right to access Settings, then click "Updates".
  3. If an update is available, you will see an "Apply Update" button. Press the "Apply Update" button to initiate the update.
  4. Vector will reboot to apply the update, and be ready to play again within just a few minutes.

Troubleshooting

If you are a Member on an older software version and Vector doesn't show an update, here are some steps to try:

  1. Reboot your router:
    1. Your router is usually provided by your Internet Service Provider when you obtain service. Reboot it by unplugging the router's power cord for 10 seconds, then reinserting the power cord into the device.
      1. In some cases, you may have both a router and a modem. Please reboot both of these to continue, if yours are separate.
      2. Wait 2 minutes to allow your devices time to boot fully. Make sure your phone has reconnected to the Wi-Fi before moving to the next step.
      3. Click the "Try Again" button.
  2. Reboot your mobile device:
    1. Turn your phone or tablet completely off for 30 seconds, then boot it back up.
      1. Instructions for this step may vary based upon your device model. Please consult your owner's manual for steps on how to perform this if you are not sure.
  3. Reboot Vector:
    1. Touch Vector's Back button (on his LED strip) and press in until it clicks.
    2. Hold the button for 5 seconds until Vector's eyes disappear and his screen turns black.
    3. Release the Back button and wait for 30 seconds.
    4. Tap (click) the back button to boot Vector back up.
  4. Check for Updates again:
